Research Tools

World Book Discover contains a wealth of tools to help with research projects and assignments.

1. My Research is a personal, digital portfolio where users can save World Book articles, images, videos, and other content from any World Book site. Multiple folders can be created within a My Research account to organized saved content for separate projects. A list of content will display in the left-hand column, and materials can be printed, emailed, saved locally, and be annoted with notes.

In addition, users can enter bibliographic information about print books they've found in their research, save citations generated from the World Book Citation Builder, and add details from other websites visited to have all research in one place.

2. The How to Do Research feature provides tutorials and exercises for students and educators on 21st century information literacy skills.

The student section provides a step-by-step tutorial for every stage of the research process, including how to find and evaluate print and digital information, how to organize and cite the sources, and how to present your information.

The educator section, compiled in consultation with educators who have worked extensively on information literacy projects, covers covers how to teach research skills and structure assignments so students can successfully reach the goals set for them.

3. World Book's proprietary Citation Builder gives users the correct MLA, APA, and Harvard citations for more than a dozen content types, including a print book, magazine, or website. Citations can be printed, emailed, or saved to a My Research project.
