Trek's Travels

Story Player

Each story in Trek's Travels features narration by a human voice. A wide selection of voices exposes children to expressive narrators of different genders and backgrounds. Read-aloud audio is accompanied by word-by-word highlighting to foster development of literacy skills.

The story player features three modes to support a variety of classroom, library, and home uses, from group instruction to independent and small group study.

1. Autoplay mode. The default setting of the player plays the story automatically, with read-aloud and word-by-word text highlighting. This mode is perfect for pre-readers and students who wish to be read to.

2. Manual mode. Click on the play/pause toggle button to enter manual mode. Use the next and previous arrows to manually advance the story or visit earlier pages. Story narration and text highlighting are active in this mode, and users can control the pace of the story.

3. Independent reading mode. Click on the speaker icon to enter independent reading mode. In this mode story narration and word-by-word highlighting will be inactive, enabling students to practice reading the story at their own pace.

4. Select Play for educational games related to the theme.

5. Select Watch for the original video related to the theme.

6. For Educators provides background information, lesson plans, and more resources to help educators teach the theme. These materials can also be used by families at home to provide enrichment and additional practice.

7. Switch to another theme by clicking on the corresponding icon.
