Dictionary The World Book Dictionary contains more than 248,000 definitions. A user can view the definition of almost any word in an encyclopedia article by double clicking it. 1. Dictionary entries feature all the important elements typical of a comprehensive dictionary, including syllable indications, pronunciations, parts of speech, sentence examples, inflections, and singular and plural forms. Definitions are listed with the most commonly used meaning first. 2. The definition of a word can be found by performing the search using the World Book Kids Search feature at the top right of the page or by searching for it using the Dictionary Search box that appears on the dictionary page. 3. The left column of the dictionary page features a list of words that are close in spelling to the word being defined. Clicking on one of these words displays a page containing its definition.
